SPECIAL ACT NO. 98-8
AN ACT MAKING TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS WITH RESPECT
TO THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
1999, AND PROVIDING A COST-OF-LIVING ALLOWANCE TO
PERMANENT FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES OF THE JOINT
COMMITTEE ON LEGISLATIVE MANAGEMENT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 46 of public act 97-11 of
the June 18 special session is repealed and the
following is substituted in lieu thereof:
[(a)] The sum of $150,000 of the amount
appropriated to the Department of Education, for
the fiscal year ending June 30, 1998, for
Education Equalization Grants, shall be
transferred to Interdistrict Cooperation for an
interdistrict abuse/neglect domestic violence
education program for children five to twelve
years of age.
[(b) The sum of $150,000 of the amount
appropriated to the Department of Education, for
the fiscal year ending June 30, 1999, for
Education Equalization Grants, shall be
transferred to Interdistrict Cooperation for an
interdistrict abuse/neglect domestic violence
education program for children five to twelve
years of age.]
Sec. 2. Section 49 of public act 97-11 of the
June 18 special session is repealed and the
following is substituted in lieu thereof:
(a) The sum of $1,099,698 appropriated to the
Office of Policy and Management, for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 1998, for Personal Services,
shall be transferred to the Department of
Administrative Services for such purpose.
(b) The sum of $361,045 appropriated to the
Office of Policy and Management, for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 1998, for Other Expenses,
shall be transferred to the Department of
Administrative Services for such purpose.
[(c) The sum of $1,147,163 appropriated to
the Office of Policy and Management, for the
fiscal year ending June 30, 1999, for Personal
Services, shall be transferred to the Department
of Administrative Services for such purpose.
(d) The sum of $361,045 appropriated to the
Office of Policy and Management, for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 1999, for Other Expenses,
shall be transferred to the Department of
Administrative Services for such purpose.]
Sec. 3. Subsection (j) of section 52 of
public act 97-11 of the June 18 special session is
repealed and the following is substituted in lieu
thereof:
(j) During the fiscal year ending June 30,
1998, [and during the fiscal year ending June 30,
1999,] $30,000 of the amount appropriated to the
Department of Education, for Education
Equalization Grants, shall be transferred to the
State Library, for Personal Services.
Sec. 4. The sum of $150,000 in the
Interdistrict Cooperation account in the
Department of Education shall be used, during the
fiscal year ending June 30, 1999, for an
interdistrict abuse/neglect domestic violence
education program for children five to twelve
years of age.
Sec. 5. Each permanent full-time employee of
the Joint Committee on Legislative Management
shall receive a three per cent cost-of-living
allowance for the fiscal year ending June 30,
1998, and the fiscal year ending June 30, 1999.
The cost-of-living allowance for the fiscal year
ending June 30, 1998, shall be retroactive to July
4, 1997.
Sec. 6. Section 15 of public act 97-11 of the
June 18 special session is repealed.
Sec. 7. Section 57 of special act 97-21 is
repealed.
Sec. 8. This act shall take effect from its
passage, except sections 1 to 4, inclusive, and
section 6 shall take effect July 1, 1998.
