Substitute Senate Bill No. 325
PUBLIC ACT NO. 98-158
AN ACT ALLOWING INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK IN CONGREGATE
HOUSING TO DEDUCT THEIR EARNINGS FROM INCOME
CALCULATIONS FOR SUCH HOUSING.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 8-119g of the general
statutes, as amended by section 154 of public act
97-2 of the June 18 special session, is repealed
and the following is substituted in lieu thereof:
(a) The provisions of section 8-113a and
sections 8-115a to 8-118b, inclusive, AS AMENDED,
shall govern the implementation of this part.
(b) On and after July 1, 1997, the maximum
income limits for admission to a state congregate
housing facility shall be eighty per cent of the
area median income adjusted for family size.
(c) ON AND AFTER JULY 1, 1998, AN INDIVIDUAL
WHO LIVES IN AND IS EMPLOYED BY A CONGREGATE
HOUSING FACILITY MAY DEDUCT UP TO TWO HUNDRED
DOLLARS PER MONTH OF HIS EARNINGS FROM SUCH
EMPLOYMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING INCOME
FOR SUCH FACILITY. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEDUCTION
EXCEED THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY EARNED BY THE
INDIVIDUAL.
Sec. 2. This act shall take effect July 1,
1998.
