              PUBLIC ACT NO. 97-196


AN  ACT  CONCERNING  THE PAYMENT OF LEGAL EXPENSES
INCURRED IN DISPUTES UNDER FRANCHISE AGREEMENTS.


    Be  it  enacted  by  the  Senate  and House of
Representatives in General Assembly convened:
    Section  1.  Section  42-133cc  of the general
statutes is amended by adding subdivision (17)  as
follows:
    (NEW)  (17) Provide in any franchise agreement
that in any administrative or judicial  proceeding
arising  from  any  dispute  with  respect to such
agreement, the prevailing party shall be  entitled
to  recover  its costs, reasonable attorney's fees
and other expenses of litigation  from  the  other
party.
    Sec.  2.  This  act shall take effect from its
passage.
