PUBLIC ACT NO. 97-146
AN ACT CONCERNING THE DESIGNATION OF "A WEEK TO
REMEMBER PERSONS WHO ARE DISABLED OR SHUT-IN" AND
FIRE FIGHTER AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
PERSONNEL WEEK.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 10-29a of
the general statutes is amended by adding
subdivisions (42) and (43) as follows:
(NEW) (42) The Governor shall proclaim the
third week in May of each year to be "A Week to
Remember Persons who are Disabled or Shut-in".
Suitable exercises shall be held in the State
Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates
for the observance of the week.
(NEW) (43) The Governor shall proclaim the
first week in August of each year to be Fire
Fighter and Emergency Medical Services Personnel
Week in recognition of the service, sacrifice and
contributions of such personnel to the public
health and safety. Suitable exercises shall be
held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the
Governor designates for the observance of the
week.
Sec. 2. This act shall take effect from its
passage.
