PUBLIC ACT NO. 97-98
AN ACT CONCERNING ATTENDANCE AND MEMBERSHIP ON THE
ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 10-76i
of the general statutes is repealed and the
following is substituted in lieu thereof:
(b) Said advisory council shall elect
annually its own chairperson and other officers as
deemed necessary. The council shall meet at least
once during each calendar quarter and at such
other times as the chairperson deems necessary or
upon the request of a majority of members in
office. A majority of the members in office, but
not less than ten, shall constitute a quorum. Any
member [who fails to attend three consecutive
meetings or] who fails to attend fifty per cent of
all meetings held during any calendar year shall
be deemed to have resigned from office. The
designee of the Commissioner of Education shall
meet with and act as secretary to [said] THE
advisory council. Members of [said] THE advisory
council shall serve without compensation, but
shall be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses
incurred in the performance of their duties. The
state Department of Education shall provide
secretarial and administrative assistance to
facilitate the activity of [said] THE advisory
council. The Department of Higher Education shall
appoint a liaison person to [said] THE advisory
council.
Sec. 2. This act shall take effect from its
passage.
