               PUBLIC ACT NO. 97-23


AN ACT CONCERNING UTILITY AUDITS.


    Be  it  enacted  by  the  Senate  and House of
Representatives in General Assembly convened:
    Subdivision  (4)  of subsection (b) of section
16-8 of the general statutes is repealed  and  the
following is substituted in lieu thereof:
    (4)  A  complete audit of each portion of each
gas [,] OR electric [or telephone] company  having
more  than  seventy-five  thousand customers shall
begin no less frequently than every six years,  so
that   a   complete  audit  of  such  a  company's
operations shall be  performed  every  six  years.
Such  an  audit  of  each  gas [,] OR electric [or
telephone] company having more  than  seventy-five
thousand customers shall be updated as required by
the department. [Not later than December 1,  1994,
the  department  shall  establish  a  schedule for
performing a complete audit of each gas,  electric
and    telephone    company   having   more   than
seventy-five thousand customers.  Not  later  than
December  1,  1996,  the  department shall begin a
complete audit of each such company which has  not
been   the   subject  of  such  an  audit  or  the
equivalent of such an audit, as determined by  the
department, begun after December 1, 1989.]
