Brownfields In Connecticut (1998)
In 1998, the program review committee looked at state efforts to deal with abandoned or underutilized sites with real or perceived environmental problems, also known as "brownfields." Because many of the programs available to deal with these sites were new, the committee focused its recommendations on clarifying statutory provisions and fine-tuning the operating procedures of specific programs.
The table below summarizes the committee's recommendations and the legislative changes enacted as a result of the study. It also describes actions taken by the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) since the study to comply with the recommendations.
