From:   David L. Hemond
Date:   June 26, 1998
Re:   Notice of Meeting, Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at 4:00 p.m.

A meeting of the Law Revision Commission Committee on Confidentiality of Medical Records has been set for Wednesday, July 8, 1998, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Hearing Room 1A in the Legislative Office Building, Hartford, CT.

As noted earlier, we have invited K. King Burnett, Chairman of the committee that acted for the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws in preparing the Uniform Health-Care Information Act, to address the committee at that meeting to be held on July 8. As Chairman of that committee, Attorney Burnett’s comments will assist us substantially as we develop our study methodology and perspective.

The meeting agenda is as follows:

1. Approval of minutes.

2. Presentation by K. King Burnett concerning relevance of the Uniform Health-Care Information Act and other thoughts concerning the study.

3. Discussion re presentation and study process.

4. Other business.

Please find enclosed the following material:

1. Minutes of the June 10 meeting.

2. An article entitled "The Health Care Privacy Debate: Can we achieve comprehension before closure".

3. A copy of the Massachusetts Medical Society Policy on Patient Privacy and Confidentiality.

4. An article from the New York Times concerning access to medical reports and Attorney Berliner’s brief memorandum concerning that article.

5. An updated list of advisors and Law Revision Commission members on the committee.

If you have questions, please give me a call.
