Mr. Oyanadel was born and raised in Santiago, Chile.
He is currently the Acting Executive Director of the Latino and Puerto Rican
Affairs Commission (LPRAC) – an
independent and non-partisan public policy agency within the Connecticut
General Assembly.
In this position,
he is in charge of administering and implementing policies and programs
of the Commission; drafts legislative recommendations and suggests
changes in the statutes; supervises research studies concerning issues
facing the Latino community; and provides assistance to state, municipal
and private agencies in the planning, implementation and evaluation of
programs.
Before Mr. Oyanadel started working for LPRAC, he served as a
Legislative Assistant to several members of the Connecticut House of
Representatives and subsequently accepted an offer from the State Senate
to work as the Legislative Assistant to State Senator Donald E.
Williams, Jr., President Pro-Tempore of the
State of Connecticut.
Mr. Oyanadel holds a B. A. Degree in Political Science and a Minor in Philosophy.
Mr. Oyanadel was also member of the federally recognized Connecticut Army National Guard
as an Automated Logistics Specialist and
Hispanic Emphasis Program Manager. He
received an Honorable Discharge for his service after enlisting
twice.
Mr. Oyanadel
is very proud of his civic engagements on several boards and committees
around the state.
He is the liaison for the LPRAC to the Racial & Ethnic
Disparity Commission in the Criminal Justice System and is the LPRAC
representative to the Health
Equity Commission.

received the Immigrant of the Year Award by the Connecticut
Immigrant & Refugee Coalition.

National Image, Inc. – Meritorious Service Award awarded to
outstanding military service members for the advancement of civil rights
& equal opportunities of Hispanics in the military and in their
workplace.
