Voice. A Weekly Spanish Newspaper circulating in the 9 cities
with the highest concentrations of Latinos.

Norma came to live
in New Haven, CT from Puerto Rico when she was 5 years old. She
is third of ten sisters and three brothers. Her parents Noemi
and Hermenegildo Rodriguez were farmers from Lares. They
believed that education and hard work was the key to success.
ü
Norma is a graduate
of the University of Connecticut.
ü
She was Director of
the Atwater Senior Center for 25 years.
ü
She traveled with
the senior citizens to Italy, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales,
Spain, Portugal, Morocco, France, Holland, Germany, Mexico,
Greece, Turkey, and throughout the United States.
ü
Presently she is
the President of Hispanic Communications, owner of La Voz
Hispana de Connecticut (The Hispanic Voice of Connecticut).
Connecticut’s largest and most respected Spanish language
newsweekly circulating in the 9 cities with the highest
concentration of Latinos.

Norma is Vice-chair
of the New Haven Democratic Town Committee.
ü
Commissioner for
the State of CT Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission.
ü
On the Board of
Directors of Spanish American Merchants
Association.
ü
First Hispanic
State Central Committee Member 1984-1988.
ü
First Hispanic to
be elected as an Electoral Vote for President Clinton.
ü
Was a delegate to
the National Democratic Convention in Boston July, 2004.
ü
2006 Norma ran for
Secretary of the State of Connecticut.
ü
She is the chair of
the on line journalism project – Newhavenindependent.org.
ü
Norma has 3 sons:
Tomás, a UConn graduate, Andre a Quinnipiac University graduate,
and JuanCarlos, who is in the U.S. Air force.
Ms. Rodriguez-Reyes
was appointed to the Commission in 2003 by Senate Majority
Leader Martin M. Looney.
