Karlo X. Ruiz
Karlo is a native of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico but spent the latter part
of his childhood in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Lock Haven
University of Pennsylvania where he received a BA in Mass Communications
with a double emphasis in print journalism and public
relations/advertising, and a BA in Spanish.
His multi-disciplined education has led to equally diverse
professional experiences in the communications field. Karlo has served
as an advertising account manager for multi-million dollar national
clients, he's an award-winning copywriter and has years of experience
crafting public relations strategies for a wide array of clients.
As Public Information Officer he provides educational, informational
and other public relations services related to the Commission's
programs. He helps plan, coordinate, direct and administer legislative
policies and programs, and when called upon, represents the Commission
in the public media and at the state legislature. He is responsible for
media relations and inquiries, the planning and coordination of events
and exhibitions related to the Commission's work, and he handles the
creation of collateral materials.
Karlo also represents the Commission as a board member of Rebuilding
Together Hartford, a non-profit organization that helps low-income
Hartford homeowners make needed improvements to their homes with a focus
on safety and accessibility.
He currently resides in Wethersfield with his wife and daughter.
