Commissioner
Danny Torres was born in the Bronx, New York on December 20, 1957.
His parents are Corpus and Carmen Torres. Commissioner Torres came
to Meriden, CT in June 1968 and graduated from Fancies T. Maloney High
School, Meriden in June, 1975. In 1984, Commissioner Torres became
a city firefighter in Meriden, a position he currently holds today.
In addition to firefighting, he is a realtor with Century 21 Access
America and has been employed since 1990. Commissioner Torres is a
union steward, executive member, and a labor and pension contract
negotiator with IAFF local 1148 Firefighters Union. When he is not
working, Commissioner Torres enjoys playing softball, hunting, working
in his garden, and spending time with his family. Commissioner
Torres is married with four children and six grandchildren.
Commissioner Danny Torres was appointed to the Latino and Puerto Rican
Affairs Commission on December 21, 2009 by Christopher G. Donovan,
Speaker of the House of Representatives pursuant to Public Act 09-07. |
