LPRAC Honors its Citizens of the Year

Joined by a crowd of close to 900, the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission hosted its 11th Annual Gala Awards Ceremony at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods on Saturday, October 25, 2008.

The event, designed to recognize the contributions and successes of Latinos across the state, has become the largest annual gathering of its kind in Connecticut.

This year, the LPRAC honored, Dr. Francisco Donis and Dr. Agnes Quiñones as its Latino and Latina Citizens of the year and awarded scholarships to the following exceptional students:

  •   Erika Alvarez
  •   Marie Louise Biondi
  •   Ashley Nicole Caceres
  •   Hillary Dueñas
  •   Joshua Ali Calderón
  •   Diego Lugo

The LPRAC also awarded the Greater Bridgeport Latino Network its 2008 Community Service Award for their dedication to fostering Latino involvement and success.

The Commission would like to express its deepest gratitude to the sponsors who made the event possible with a special nod to the title, platinum, gold and silver level sponsors.
