Connecticut State Capitol Police

Training

Law Enforcement Accreditation

One of the aspects the State Capitol Police has always taken pride in is continued training in law enforcement.  State Capitol Police Officers are always  encouraged to better their professional police career by taking advantage of the different training classes offered by  P.O.S.T. and other law enforcement agencies.

State Capitol Police Officers are afforded the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and hone their police skills by taking advantage of the vast array of classes available to certified police officers.  Upon graduation from the Ct. Police Academy and successful completion of the FTO program you will be able to apply for some of the many classes our officers have taken such as: Street Survival, Interview and Interrogation, DWI Enforcement, Background Investigation, Dignitary Protection, Police Bike School, Cyber Crime, Crime Scene Processing, Police Photography, Anti-Terrorism training, Command Post Training, FTO, Haz-Mat Training, Calea, Accreditation, etc.

In addition to these courses some officers have taken advanced courses and become instructors in: Firearms, Armor, Law Enforcement Physical Agility., Asp & Handcuffing,  Intoxilyzer, CPR, First Line Supervisor and many others.

As a State Capitol Police Officer you are also an employee of Legislative Management and therefore have access to the many classes and seminars they offer.  Many of these classes are geared for the professionals working in the building; everything from public speaking to 7 Healthy Habits.  These courses not only help give you a broader range of training but can be an asset to you in your career after law enforcement.

Another opportunity available to you is computer training.  There is a highly skilled Information Technology Division at the State Capitol Complex which offers training classes to Legislative Management employees.  Classes include:  Intro to Microsoft, Word 1 & 2, Excel, Webpage Design and dozens of other computer training classes.
