The Connecticut Childhood Obesity Council was created by
the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) and the
Connecticut Commission on Children. Its mission includes
establishing state priorities for combating childhood obesity and
coordinating statewide initiatives.
The Council is co-chaired by
Christine B. Parker, M.P.H., director of the Connecticut Department of Public Health's
Nutrition, Physical Activity & Obesity Prevention Program, and Thomas R. Brooks, J.D., director of
policy and research analysis for the Connecticut Commission on
Children.

Next meeting
Childhood Obesity Council
meeting rescheduled for Friday, March 7
The Council will meet from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Room 310 of the state Capitol to hold an open
and informal dialogue on proposals for addressing the
childhood obesity epidemic in Connecticut in 2008 and 2009.
This is a rescheduling of the meeting originally set for
February 22. All who plan to attend are asked to RSVP by
e-mailing Thomas Brooks or calling him at (860)
240-0075. You are also asked to submit a brief document
describing your organization's proposal.
