Join us for 'Building a Children’s Report Card'

On Tuesday, September 11, the Commission on Children and the legislature's Select Committee on Children will co-host a presentation on the Connecticut Children’s Report Card, a tool that will help families and policy leaders alike assess children's health, safety, stability, and chances of future success. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

Roadmap to a Positive School Climate

This PowerPoint presentation—prepared by Steven Hernández, director of public policy and research for the Commission on Children—explains what schools can do to create the sort of climate that will help them comply with Connecticut's 2011 anti-bullying legislation, An Act Concerning the Strengthening of School Bullying Laws (Public Act 11-232).

Remembering 9/11 through the words and images of children

In the years immediately following the September 11 attacks, the Commission asked children and youth from throughout Connecticut to express their feelings about the event in words and images. Their work they submitted touched not only on 9/11 but also Hurricane Katrina, neighborhood crime, and other aspects of their personal safety.
