The next meeting of the Commission on Children will feature a forum on why civically active parents and families are critical to our state's future. With a panel of experts, we'll look at how engagement makes for stronger families and stronger communities. We'll also ask: What kind of return can the state expect for investing in family civics programs and strategies? What are the opportunities for federal funding?

Children in the recession legislative task force on meets January 21
The task force, formed by House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan, will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, in Room 2-C of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. (Directions) Watch our home page for an agenda.


SustiNet panel looks at childhood obesity
The SustiNet Health Partnership Childhood and Adult Obesity Task Force heard presentations last month on the latest research and programs to reduce obesity, with Commission on Children Director of Policy and Research Analysis Thomas R. Brooks among those speaking.
