CoA ~ Outreach
The Commission
on Aging provides public information via many channels. In addition to
regularly providing legislators and others in government with objective
information, the Commission frequently reaches out to audiences statewide
through the media, speaking engagements, “town hall” meetings and the internet.
“Agewise”

A television program devoted to aging
issues seen on local access community television.
WTIC Radio “The Aging Process”
Commission Executive Director Julia Evans Starr co-hosts “The Aging
Process”, a Sunday morning radio program on WTIC-AM with newsman Bill Pearse.
Town Hall Meetings
Each year the Commission organizes a
series of Town Hall Meetings in the community. Representatives from state and local agencies answer questions
and provide information about programs and services.
Not only do the town hall meetings provide an opportunity
for members of the community to be heard, ask questions,
seek answers and voice concerns, it gives the Commission an
opportunity to connect to the very people we serve.
Speaking Engagements
As goodwill ambassadors to their local communities, Commission on Aging
members and staff are available to speak to your community or organization about
a wide-variety of topics related to older adults, including civic engagement,
long-term care, and advocacy.
CoA on TV
CoA members and staff are frequently on
TV providing information to the public about aging issues and Commission
activities.
