GENERAL INFORMATION

Capitol Child Development Center is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (for infants the hours are 7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.), and serves 65 children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

Capitol Child Development Center charges $259 per week for full time infant care, and $224 for preschoolers (ages 3 to 5 years old).

Capitol Child Development Center gives enrollment preference to state employees but not all families at the center are state employees.

Generally, Capitol Child Development Center has more openings during the summer months. We keep a waiting list when it is full.

Capitol Child Development Center is nationally accredited.


MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Capitol Child Development Center is to provide quality care and early education to children six weeks through five years of age from diverse communities in Greater Hartford.

We are committed to providing a diverse learning environment that exceeds the highest state and national accreditation standards, nurtures a professional staff, recognizes individual needs of children and provides support to their families in partnership with varied community resources.

We seek to build strong partnerships between school and home, between teachers and families and between children and their environments for the richest development of our children, their families, their school and their communities.


LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION

In 1987, the Connecticut General Assembly passed Special Act No. 87-78 allowing for the Joint Committee on Legislative Management to establish an on-site daycare facility.

In 1988, the Capitol Child Development Center, Inc., was created to provide quality developmental child care for legislators and employees of the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches of the state government.
