Legislative Audit Trainee  (Full Description Here)

Anyone interested in applying for the Legislative Audit Trainee position with the Auditors of Public Accounts must send a résumé, cover letter detailing how you meet the minimum requirements, and three references by e-mail to apatrainee@cga.ct.gov.

After the Auditors of Public Accounts receive an applicant's resume, they hold it until the next interview process for full time employment begins or 12 months, whichever comes first.

When the hiring process has been authorized, the qualifying applicant is notified of the opportunity to interview. The process normally involves two interviews, with the second interview held at the State Capitol with the two State Auditors and the Deputy State Auditor.

The successful candidate will join the Auditors of Public Account's team and enjoy a challenging career in auditing. The new employee is hired as a Legislative Audit Trainee and is provided with an orientation program that will familiarize him/her with audit policies and procedures. After completion of a 12-month period, a trainee is eligible to be considered for a promotion to the position of Auditor1.

In conjunction with gaining valuable auditing experience, the successful candidate will earn year-for-year experience towards becoming certified. The Office of the Auditors of Public Accounts encourages employees to sit for the CPA exam and reimburses up to $1,000 towards a CPA exam review course. In addition, paid leave is provided to take the exam.

The Auditors of Public Accounts also offers an excellent benefits package which includes a health plan, vacation and sick leave, and a deferred compensation plan.
