Internship/Co-op Program

The Office of the Auditors of Public Accounts operates an audit internship program for Co-op students from public and private universities in Connecticut. The Office interviews Co-op students twice a year. Those students who are offered and accept employment are employed as interns for six-month terms beginning each January and July.

Audit interns are assigned to audit groups in the same manner as all new employees, giving rise to the opportunity to participate in all facets of audit work. Audit experience as an intern counts towards the experience requirement for obtaining a Certified Public Accountant certificate. Audit experience gained through this program has proven most beneficial to past participants, not only for those individuals recruited by us for full-time employment, but for those who utilized the opportunity to gain experience necessary to make career decisions.
