Derrick McBride

Public Safety Member Commissioner Derrick McBride is a native of Bridgeport. He currently resides in Willimantic. Mr. McBride holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina. He was appointed to the commission by the Speaker of the House in 2001.   He has worked in law enforcement since 1987 at Eastern Connecticut State University's Police Department, and is currently the department's Executive Officer/2nd in Command. He is a  graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He served in the United States Army Reserves for 10 years as a Captain and member of a Civil Affairs Unit.  Mr. McBride is involved in many roles at the University and within the Windham community. As a reflection of this commitment, he is a recipient of Eastern's Martin Luther King Community Service Award and the Excellence in Service to the University Award. He was appointed by the Windham First Selectman to serve on Windham's Affirmative Action Commission.  Mr. McBride is deeply devoted to his family and church.
