Public
Safety Member and Commissioner Derrick McBride
is
native of Bridgeport. He currently resides in Willimantic. Mr.
McBride holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice
from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina. He has worked in
law enforcement since 1987 at Eastern Connecticut State University
Police Department and is currently the department's Executive
Officer/2nd in Command. He graduated from the FBI National Academy
in Quantico, Virginia in 2000. He is involved in many roles at the
University and within the Windham community. As a reflection of
this commitment, he is a recipient of Eastern's "Martin Luther
King Community Service Award" and the "Excellence in Service to
the University" award.
He
serves on the Town of Windham Affirmative Action Commission by the
First Selectmen.
He has served on a law enforcement delegation to
South Africa.
Mr. McBride is deeply devoted to his family and
church. He was appointed to the Commission by Speaker of the House
Moira K. Lyons in February 2001.
