Our Mission



The mission of the African-American Affairs Commission (AAAC) is to improve and promote the economic development, education, health and political well-being of the African-American community in the State of Connecticut.

The AAAC accomplishes these goals through information sharing, promoting cultural awareness, community networking, and legislation. [more]

  Teacher's Residence Assistance Program

  

Teachers Mortgage Assistance Program offers low interest, fixed rate mortgage loans for eligible Connecticut certified public school teachers. Homes must be purchased in a designated priority or transitional school district. Applicants who are certified to teach and are teaching in a state-identified subject matter shortage area can purchase a home anywhere in Connecticut.  Click here for details..

On May 16th the African-American Affairs Commission hosted its Annual Classic Awards at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, CT.  Connecticut residents who have made significant contributions to the state were honored.  Scholarships were also awarded to high school students.
