Commission Office The Connecticut Commission on Children operates from the second floor of 18-20 Trinity Street in Hartford. The building is located across the street from the state Capitol and adjacent to the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.
From I-84 eastbound: Take Exit 48, Capitol Avenue. Get into the left lane of the exit ramp and follow the signs for Asylum Street. At the end of the exit ramp turn right onto Asylum Street. Stay to the right and proceed through the Memorial Arch onto Trinity Street. After the Arch, the first right will be the Capitol visitors driveway; the Commission office will be on the left. From I-84 westbound: Take Exit 48, Asylum Street, at the end of the exit ramp turn left at the light onto Asylum Street. Get into the right lane and go under the railroad bridge. Stay to the right and proceed through the Memorial Arch onto Trinity Street. After going through the Arch, the first right will be the Capitol visitors driveway. From I-91 northbound or southbound - Take Exit 29A, Capitol Avenue to Pulaski Circle. Go right onto Elm Street. Follow Elm Street to the traffic light. At the traffic light proceed across Trinity Street directly onto the Capitol grounds.
State
Capitol The State Capitol is bounded by Bushnell Park, Trinity Street, Capitol Avenue, and the Exit 48 ramp of I-84. Beside's the governor's office, it contains the chambers of the state Senate and House of Representatives.
From I-84 eastbound: Take Exit 48, Capitol Avenue. Get into the left lane of the exit ramp and follow the signs for Asylum Street. At the end of the exit ramp turn right onto Asylum Street. Legislative Office Building The Legislative Office Building, or LOB, contains offices for lawmakers and their staffs, along with committee hearing rooms. Most Commission on Children events are held there. It is located on Capitol Avenue, between the Capitol and the state Armory.
From I-84 eastbound: Take Exit 48B, Capitol Avenue. Turn right at the light onto Capitol Avenue. Go one block and turn right at the next light. Go straight after the stop sign. Park in the garage on your right. From I-84 westbound: Take Exit 48, Asylum Street. Go to the traffic light using the center lane for right turn. Turn right at the light and immediately bear left onto Farmington Avenue. There are turn restrictions at the next intersection, so use Option 1 or 2 as applicable:
From I-91
northbound or southbound: Take Exit 29A,
Capitol Area exits. Follow the highway to the end. Go halfway around
Pulaski Circle. Exit the rotary onto Elm Street and go to the next
traffic light. Turn left at the light onto Trinity Street. Get into
the right lane and go to the next traffic light. Bear right onto
Capitol Avenue. Go three traffic lights and turn right. Pay
attention to traffic lane signs. Pass in front of the Legislative
Office Building. Go straight after the stop sign. Park in the garage
