AN ACT AUTHORIZING FIREFIGHTERS TO CONDUCT CHARITABLE FUNDRAISING BOOT DRIVES ON STATE HIGHWAYS.

SUMMARY:

This bill requires the Office of the State Traffic Administration (formerly the State Traffic Commission), when asked by a municipality's traffic authority, to issue a special event permit allowing the municipality's fire department members to use a state highway, other than a limited access highway, to collect donations for charity.

By law, the office has jurisdiction over state highways, including authority to adopt regulations governing their use (CGS 14-298).

EFFECTIVE DATE: October 1, 2013
