SB 260, AN ACT CONCERNING EXPANSION OF THE LICENSE FEE WAIVER FOR CERTAIN RETIRED PHYSICIANS

This bill allows doctors who annually provide at least 100 hours of free service (1) at a local health department, (2) for the federal Veterans Health Administration, (3) at the U.S. Coast Guard medical clinic, or (4) for Doctors Without Borders to renew their licenses without charge if they do not practice medicine anywhere else. Doctors who do this in a mobile health clinic or public health facility (e.g., hospital, community health center, nursing home, mental health facility, group home, school, or public preschool) and do not practice anywhere else are already exempt from the $565 license renewal fee.
