STATE MANDATE - Potential Cost |

Explanation
The amendment requires that personal financial management be included in the program of instruction offered in public schools. This could result in a potential cost to local and regional school districts. If local and regional school districts are not offering instruction in personal financial management they would have to purchase course materials such as books, computer software, or other supplements required to provide instruction in personal financial management. It is not anticipated that the additional requirement would result in a cost to the State Department of Education as they are currently required to provide personal financial management curriculum guides and materials to high schools.
