AN ACT EXPANDING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL AND THERAPEUTICS COMMITTEE.
This bill adds a child psychiatrist to the membership of the Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics (P & T) Committee, increasing the committee's membership to fifteen. The committee, established pursuant to federal law, oversees the development and maintenance of the Department of Social Services' preferred drug list for Medicaid.

P & T Committee Membership
By law, the governor appoints the P & T committee members, who serve two-year terms. The committee currently includes one psychiatrist, as well as four other doctors (a general practitioner, pediatrician, geriatrician, and specialist in family planning); four pharmacists; two visiting nurses (one specializing in adult care and one in psychiatric care); a clinician designated by the Mental Health and Addiction Services commissioner; a pharmaceutical manufacturers representative; and a consumer representative.
