AN ACT ENCOURAGING THE PURCHASE OF FOOD PRODUCTS GROWN OR MADE IN CONNECTICUT.

SUMMARY:

This bill requires grocery stores that sell or offer to sell food products that have a Connecticut traceable point of origin to post a conspicuous sign (1) on the product, (2) on each cash register or point of sale, or (3) at a place visible from the register. The sign must state that the product was grown or made in Connecticut.

The bill also requires these grocery stores to identify on the receipt, the portion of each purchase that consists of food products with a Connecticut traceable point of origin.

EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 2013
