LEGISLATIVE VETO OVERRIDES - 2007-2011
| ||
By: Duke Chen, Legislative Analyst II
You asked for a list of vetoed acts that the legislature re-passed in the 2007-2011 regular and special sessions.
A vetoed act is overridden when it is reconsidered and passed again by a two-thirds vote of each house of the General Assembly. Thus, 101 votes are needed in the House and 24 in the Senate.
In the 2007-2011 sessions, the governor vetoed 57 acts. The legislature re-passed 16 of them. Table 1 includes (1) acts the legislature re-passed in the 2007-2011 regular and special sessions and (2) the veto override vote for each.
