HARTFORD HEALTH CARE CORPORATION

By: John Kasprak, Senior Attorney

You asked if the Connecticut Children's Medical Center and the Hospital of Central Connecticut are affiliates of the Hartford Health Care Corporation, the parent corporation of Hartford Hospital and Midstate Medical Center.

The Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC) and the Hospital of Central Connecticut are not affiliates of the Hartford Health Care Corporation (HHCC). CCMC began operating in 1996 as the successor to the Newington Children's Hospital. The Hospital of Central Connecticut was established in 2007 through the merger of Bradley Memorial Hospital (Southington) and New Britain General Hospital.

Attached are the organizational charts for HHCC, CCMC, and the Hospital of Central Connecticut, as found in the Annual Report on the Financial Status of Connecticut's Short Term Acute Hospitals for FY 2007, prepared by the Office of Health Care Access, November 2008.
