AN ACT ALLOWING THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION TO RETAIN AN ADMINISTRATIVE COST ALLOWANCE FROM THE CONNECTICUT INDEPENDENT COLLEGE STUDENT GRANT PROGRAM.

SUMMARY:

The law requires the Department of Higher Education (DHE) to conduct compliance audits for any independent college or university participating in the Connecticut Independent College Student Grant (CICSG) program. This bill authorizes DHE, beginning in FY 10, to retain 0. 2% of the CICSG appropriation to cover the administrative expenses it incurs in conducting the compliance audits.

The CICSG program funds annual grants based on financial need to Connecticut undergraduate students attending the state's independent colleges.

EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2009
