AN ACT CONCERNING HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICIES FOR PEOPLE WHO OWN DOGS THAT HAVE BITTEN A PERSON.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to prohibit insurers from refusing to issue personal risk insurance policies for homeowners who own a dog that has bitten a person. An insurer may require such homeowner to (1) purchase a rider for such policy based on such dog's history or risk, or (2) sign a hold harmless agreement for such dog.
Statement of Purpose:
To prohibit insurers from refusing to issue personal risk insurance policies for homeowners who own a dog that has bitten a person.
