AN ACT INCREASING THE FINE FOR USING A CELLULAR TELEPHONE WITHOUT A HANDS-FREE DEVICE WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 14-296aa of the general statutes be amended to increase the fine for operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile telephone without a hands-free device from one hundred dollars to two hundred dollars.

Statement of Purpose:

To promote public safety by increasing the fine for using a cellular telephone without a hands-free device while operating a motor vehicle.
