OLR Bill Analysis
AN ACT CONCERNING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR AMATEUR BOXING.
This bill sets conditions under which the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) must fund any association supporting amateur boxing. DECD may grant or lend the funds or guarantee loans the association receives from other sources if it:
1. has, or will establish, a regional headquarters in Connecticut;
2. annually conducts amateur boxing events here; and
3. offers to join the state in various initiatives.
The initiatives may include establishing a hall of fame, events involving the Olympic boxing team, and social and community programs, particularly for youth.
