AN ACT ESTABLISHING A STATE MUSIC HALL OF FAME.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Section 2 of public act 07-220 is amended to read as follows (Effective from passage):

(a) There is established a Connecticut Music Hall of Fame Committee that shall develop a plan for the creation and operation of a Connecticut music hall of fame in order to recognize distinguished Connecticut residents in the field of music. The committee shall consist of the following members:

(1) One appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives;

(2) One appointed by the president pro tempore of the Senate;

(3) One appointed by the majority leader of the House of Representatives;

(4) One appointed by the majority leader of the Senate;

(5) One appointed by the minority leader of the House of Representatives; and

(6) One appointed by the minority leader of the Senate.

(b) All appointments to the committee shall be made no later than thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any vacancy shall be filled by the appointing authority.

(c) The speaker of the House of Representatives and the president pro tempore of the Senate shall select the chairperson of the committee, from among the members of the committee. Such chairperson shall schedule the first meeting of the committee, which shall be held no later than sixty days after the effective date of this section.

(d) The plan developed by the committee shall include, but not be limited to, a recommendation for the location for the music hall of fame, criteria for induction of residents into the music hall of fame, and rules concerning the operation of the music hall of fame. Not later than [February 1, 2008] January 1, 2009, the committee shall submit a report to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to commerce concerning such plan.

(e) The committee may solicit, receive and accept aid, grants or contributions, from any source, of money, property, labor or other items of value for the purposes of this section.
