HOLIDAY TREE DONATION

By: Mary M. Janicki, Director

You asked how a 50-foot Norwegian blue spruce tree might be donated to the state for use during the holiday season.

The Governor's Office suggests that anyone interested in making such a donation put the offer in writing addressed to: The Honorable M. Jodi Rell, 210 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106.

Staff in the Department of Public Works (DPW, the department with care and control of the Governor's Mansion) note that some years ago, a citizen made a similar offer and entered into a personal services agreement with the state though no charge or payment was involved. They also mentioned that the Connecticut Christmas Tree Growers Association provides holiday decorations at the mansion and a donor might want to contact Cathy Kogut, Executive Director, 304 Parker Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut 06450 (203-641-1632).

The Department of Administrative Services' Procurement Division

is not aware of any need for a holiday tree at other state-owned

or -occupied buildings.
