PUBLIC HEALTH BILLS FAVORABLY REPORTED TO THE FINANCE, REVENUE AND BONDING COMMITTEE

By: John Kasprak, Senior Attorney

You asked for a summary of Public Health Committee bills favorably reported to the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.

sSB 6109-AN ACT REDUCING LICENSE RENEWAL FEES FOR RETIRED DENTISTS AND PHYSICIANS

This bill allows (1) retired dentists to renew their licenses at a reduced fee ($ 45) and (2) certain physicians volunteering their services to renew their licenses at no charge. The physician must practice for no fee for at least 100 hours a year at a public health facility, and not otherwise practice medicine. The Department of Public Health (DPH) must adopt regulations for the retired dentist license renewal.

sHB 7089-AN ACT CONCERNING SUPERVISING PHYSICIANS FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS

This bill eliminates the requirement that licensed physicians who supervise physician assistants must be registered with DPH. It also eliminates the $ 37. 50 registration fee for supervising physicians.

sSB 190-AN ACT CONCERNING A DEDUCTION ON THE INCOME TAX FOR EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ORGAN DONATION

This bill provides a tax deduction of up to $ 10,000 for lost wages and medical, travel, and housing expenses incurred by a taxpayer in the taxable year in connection with a human organ donation. This would not apply to the donation of hair or blood, blood components including plasma, blood derivatives, or blood reagents.
