AN ACT EXTENDING THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN IDENTITY THEFT CASES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to extend the statute of limitations for the criminal prosecution of a violation of section 53a-129b, 53a-129c or 53a-129d of the general statutes concerning identity theft.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide for a longer period to prosecute an identity theft case since a person might not discover that his or her identity has been stolen until many years after the actual theft.
