AN ACT REQUIRING FIREARM DEALERS TO REPORT LOST OR STOLEN FIREARMS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require licensed firearm dealers to report the loss or theft of any firearm in their possession and provide that the failure to do so shall be a class A misdemeanor for the first offense and a class D felony for a second or subsequent offense.

Statement of Purpose:

To reduce the number of illegal guns used in crimes.
