AN ACT CONCERNING ACCESS TO CONSUMER CREDIT RECORDS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

To amend the general statutes to allow a consumer to contact a credit reporting agency, in writing, and request that the consumer's credit records be blocked from any future inquiries, to require the credit agency to freeze the consumer's credit records not later than five days after receipt of the request and to issue the consumer a personal identification number not later than ten days after freezing the consumer's credit records.

Statement of Purpose:

To prevent identity theft by controlling access to consumer credit records.
