AN ACT PROHIBITING TEXTING WHILE DRIVING.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 248 of the general statutes, concerning vehicle highway use, be amended to prohibit any operator of a motor vehicle, while such vehicle is in motion, from using any device that requires typing in characters in order to generate a text message that is intended to be sent to another person and to provide that a violation thereof shall be punishable by a fine of five hundred dollars.
Statement of Purpose:
To prohibit an operator of a motor vehicle typing text messages while operating such motor vehicle.
