AN ACT CONCERNING THE CREATION OF A CONNECTICUT TRANSIT AUTHORITY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to create a Connecticut Transit Authority, which would have cognizance over all matters concerning mass transportation. Such responsibilities shall be transferred from the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Transportation and Department of Motor Vehicles shall merge to create the Department of Highways, Roads and Motor Vehicles.

Statement of Purpose:

To increase mass transit in Connecticut by creating an agency dedicated to developing, monitoring and operating mass transit systems.
