AN ACT ESTABLISHING A LEGISLATIVE INTELLIGENCE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to establish a standing intelligence oversight committee within the General Assembly that reviews any documents or procedures of the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and other investigative agencies, including any coordination with federal agencies, which are exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. Such committee shall consist of the chairs and ranking members of the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public safety, the judiciary and government administration.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish an oversight committee that will protect against abuse of investigative powers.
