AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TREATMENT OF THE FAMILY HOME AS AN ASSET IN MAKING ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATIONS FOR THE DEPARTMENT'S MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That sections 17b-192 and 17b-261 of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Social Services to exclude the value of a family's primary residence, when such residence is the only asset of the family and a family member who is disabled or has low income makes application for medical assistance from the department.
Statement of Purpose:
To allow disabled and low-income persons to exclude the value of the family home, when such home is the sole asset of the family and a family member is making an application for medical assistance from the Department of Social Services.
