AN ACT PREVENTING IDENTITY THEFT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That part I of chapter 700c of the general statutes be amended to prohibit health insurers from using the Social Security numbers of their insureds as policy numbers for such insureds.

Statement of Purpose:

To help reduce the incidence of identity theft.
