AN ACT ABOLISHING THE DEATH PENALTY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 53a of the general statutes be amended to substitute life imprisonment without the possibility of release for the death penalty as the punishment for persons convicted of offenses classified as capital felonies.
Statement of Purpose:
To eliminate the death penalty and substitute life imprisonment without the possibility of release as the penalty for any crimes that currently carry the death penalty as a potential penalty.
