AN ACT CONCERNING TEXTBOOK LOANS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 10-228a of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2007):
Each local and regional board of education may, at the request of any nonpublic elementary or secondary school pupil, including a kindergarten pupil, residing in and attending a nonpublic school in such district, or at the request of the parent or guardian of such pupil, or at the request of an administrator at the nonpublic school, on behalf of the pupil, arrange for a loan of nonreligious textbooks [currently in use in the public schools of such district] available to the local or regional board of education from a book distributor used by such board to such pupil, free of charge, provided the loan of any such textbook shall be requested for not less than one semester's use.
