sHB 5486—AN ACT AUTHORIZING GAMING PRODUCTS AND RAFFLE PRIZES
This bill:
1. authorizes special tuition raffles, subject to Division of Special Revenue (DSR) regulation, with full or partial tuition payments as prizes;
2. requires bingo products and sealed ticket manufacturers and dealers who sell or rent their products or equipment to DSR permittees to register annually with DSR;
3. sets the license fees at $ 1,500 for bingo registration applicants and $ 500 for sealed ticket registration applicants,
4. prohibits permittees from renting or purchasing bingo products or sealed ticket machines from unregistered persons;
5. allows three classes of raffle permittees to award cash prizes, which, under existing statutory scheme, would be capped at $ 15,000; and
6. allows the sale of sheet tickets in teacup raffles.
sHB 5545—AN ACT CONCERNING SIMULATING FACILITIES
This bill allows all the off-track betting (OTB) facilities to simulcast pari-mutuel gaming events. Under existing law, the authority to simulcast does not include any facility located within a zone of protection negotiated between the OTB operator and any other pari-mutuel licensee.
